E-learning sample: Flash interactives
These animations come from a course that helps software developers and other staff use a version control program. The program has a challenging interface—users have to type cryptic commands at the DOS prompt—so it became especially important to include humor. The Flashes below were designed to open within another Flash interface so might look a little odd here. They appear in module 4 of the course and introduce commands used to edit files stored in the system.
The course won a Horizon Interactive bronze award in 2008.

Introduction: Debbie is programming a virtual poodle. Someone has changed the routine for the poodle's bark, and Debbie can't fix it because she's going on vacation. This intro sets up the dilemma you'll have to solve in the next animation.

Try: Experiment with commands before learning the details about them. You'll drag commands from the notes to the DOS prompt. (After this Flash, learners see more conventional text explaining commands in detail.)
|
|
Solve: After learning more about the commands, learners enter them in a simulation of the interface. Since you haven't learned any details, you might want to use the "Show Me" option.
